@clacke for testing purposes you can just write a .build.yml file and drop it into builds.sr.ht/submit, by the way - no need to actually commit it to your repo. Also useful in general for testing build manifests without writing a bunch of test commits

🇬🇧 Hey, y'all!
Starting now, we're replacing twitter mentions with twitter.activitypub.actor! This will make mentions, such as @renatolond more natural than they are right now!

Let me know of any issues!

Huge thanks to @David

🇧🇷 Oi, povo! A partir de agora estamos substituindo menções do twitter com twitter.activitypub.actor! Isso vai fazer com que as menções, como @renatolond mais naturais do que são agora.

Me avisem de qualquer problema!

Muito obrigado à @David

@Gargron @tateisu I have the impression that it's the last 'skip rule' that keeps this amount quite low. While I understand why you want to have that rule. For a small self-hosted instance, that skip rule could maybe be lifted, as in "I won't go back and check the posting history of everyone I follow". Kind of what happens when you subscribe to a new account your instance does not know of yet. Their timeline is (mostly)empty.

we clearly need an n-gate type website to keep track of the techbro threads on infosec.exchange and summarize them for our enjoyment

As much crap as I give Mastodon the software (and Pleroma the software), the fediverse is a pretty cool thing

Here's my new portable computer. The case was finally printed successfully so I was able to make sure all the electronics actually fit. The cables need a lot of wrangling so I might look for some shorter ones. The list of components is on my blog:

This was a fun custom deck to make. I'm happy to have a sturdy little computer with a mechanical keyboard that I can take with me.

Do you use tail -f ?
Love those annoying "are you watching" messages on Netflix?
Ever thought.. gee I wish I could combine both these things?

You wish has come true with tailflix!

I published a new article. Today it's about #WKD #OpenPGP and key discovery. It's split into a part that explains what the current methods are to recieve a public key of someone else and how WKD comes in here, followed by a hands-on part on how to setup WKD for your domain. Hope you enjoy 😉

#funkwhale #wip

so my little gtk app to download music from your funkwhale is now working for real

it is still far from perfect, and i will try to improve it in the following days, but it is a good start

it is written in rust, if anyone wants to see the code: https://github.com/BaptisteGelez/funkload (warning, it is awful, i did it in one afternoon, it needs to be cleaned and refactored)

for all the shit people give Gargron, you do have to recognize that he was so moved by the abuses of proprietary social media services that instead of working for a tech company and becoming part of the problem, he did something about it.

yes. Gargron is not perfect. but, none of us are. there is no single person who is absolutely free of sin.

yes. there's a lot of things I disagree with him about, like the 300k user instance that is mastodon.social, and the way half of Mastodon's features are designed.

but that doesn't change the fact that he chose to be part of the solution instead of part of the problem. and so, as part of my yearly review of what I'm sponsoring on Patreon I decided to give him some of those resources.
